Chef Tournant

Chef Mike is another one of Sweet Basil, Inc. boomerangs.  He worked here right out of culinary school, left to live, play, and work in Telluride, and has returned.  Chef Mike lives by the motto to work and play hard, and  is happy to be back at Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard and working with such a high level of hospitality professionals.  He was born in Dublin, Ohio and found his way to Colorado when he decided to make food his profession.  He is inspired by an industry that builds a craft piece by piece. After receiving his BA in Pennsylvania, he chose to attend Johnson & Wales culinary school in Vail.  Mike and his wife started their family in Vail and continue to enjoy with their kids all the Colorado mountains have to offer, especially access to so much great skiing.  When not cheffing, Mike spends his time engaged in outdoor activities: alpine skiing, golf, miniature golf, mountain biking, ski racing, camping, playing lacrosse, and road tripping.
