Commitment is a strong theme in Nick’s life, you might even say he is obsessed with success. From running four miles every four hours for forty-eight hours to teaching himself to ski to traveling across the country on a bicycle, Nick does not limit himself, anything is possible. He grew up in South Jersey, smothered in Italian culture, and although it took some time to get here, Nick always had a desire to live in Colorado.
Nick’s first job in the restaurant industry was as a busser, but like most things he attempts, he was on the fast track. He became a server and then a barback within two months and he was hooked, soon competing in cocktail competitions. Although he dabbled in photography and marketing after college, he pursued bartending which eventually led him to Vail. Being behind the bar gave him the opportunity to observe and connect with people, and as he will tell you, pretty awesome things happen at the bar.
He worked at Bol and then Mountain Standard, and after a change of pace for a few years, returned to the bar at Sweet Basil in 2019. Nick accepted the dining room manager position in the summer of 2021. Growing up he was intrigued by the restaurant owners who were the most respected people in town, happy to feed everyone, treated everyone like family, and went out of their way to take care of their employees. Nick brings passion, knowledge, and dedication to the Sweet Basil front of the house. There are many things that keep Nick in mountains, but the lifestyle and access to adventure are at the top of his list.
